What does the Governing Body do?

The Governors of Frieth School

A welcome from the Chair of Governors

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope it gives you a strong sense of the vibrant, caring community and the breadth of opportunities that children at Frieth School experience.

The Governing Board plays a key strategic role in the life of the school. Our responsibilities are to:
  • Set the vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Support and challenge the Headteacher to ensure the highest standards
  • Oversee the school’s financial performance and use of resources
Our Vision

“Let your light shine.”

This simple phrase sits at the heart of everything we do.

We believe every child has something unique within them, a talent, a strength, a spark. Our role, alongside school leaders, is to ensure the environment, opportunities and support are in place for that light to grow.

“Let your light shine” means nurturing confident learners, encouraging curiosity and creativity, and developing character as well as academic success. It is about children feeling valued, building resilience, showing kindness and respect, and leaving Frieth ready to contribute positively to the world around them.

As Governors, we are committed to making sure this vision is lived every day not just spoken but seen in the experiences of every child.

Our Governing Board is made up of 12 members, in line with our Instrument of Government. We are an inclusive school community: while Christian values underpin our ethos, we warmly welcome children and families of all faiths and none and promote understanding and respect for all.

We also welcome interest from those who may wish to become Governors. The role is both rewarding and impactful, offering the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the life of the school. Governors typically serve a four-year term and take part in board and committee meetings across the year.

At the heart of everything we do are the children. We are committed to ensuring every child at Frieth School develops as a: Respectful, responsible, resilient, kind, honest and creative citizen.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a Governor, please contact the school office.

Thank you for your continued support of Frieth School.

Best wishes,
Bradley Jones
