The School Run

We kindly request that parents drive and park considerately when undertaking the school run. The area outside our school is busy in the morning and at the end of the school day. People who park close to entrances, driveways and corners of junctions act irresponsibly, potentially placing children in danger. This does not allow children and parents walking in and out of school to cross safely where they can be seen by approaching traffic.

From September 2024, we introduced staggered entry to reduce congestion. The school gate is open from 8:30am – 8:45am for children in EYFS /KS1 (Owls, Buzzards and Kestrels). For KS2 children (Kites, Hawks and Eagles), the school gate is open from 8:45am - 8:55am. However, those children in KS2 who have siblings in EYFS/KS1 may come in from 8:30am and wait on the playground. EYFS/KS1 children will then finish their school day at 3:00pm, with KS2 children finishing at 3:15pm.

If you are an EYFS/KS1 parent, you must ensure you leave promptly after picking up your child at 3:00pm. If you are a KS2 parent, please do not arrive for school pick up before 3:10pm.

As you may know, we have recently introduced a number of other measures to minimise the impact of the school run on local residents which includes:
  • The implementation of a car sharing app ‘Home Run’.
  • An agreement with The Yew Tree public house to use the car park and for the children to walk the remainder of their journey into school.
  • Increased investment in our wrap-around care, including staggered pick up options. Before school clubs:
  • Before school clubs from Wednesday - Friday.
  • Parking on Parmoor Park Farm and the avenue of trees next to the cricket club.
We are working in collaboration with school transport specialist 'Home Run' to develop a School Travel Plan which identifies a package of measures designed to minimise the impact of school traffic on the local community.

We also ask that all parents sign and return the Frieth School Parking Promise.
