PSHE and RSE

Our Vision for PSHE

Our PSHE vision is developing life skills which will enable pupils to manage change, make healthy and safe choices, build character and be resilient, and become reflective and responsible members of society.

Our Relationships Education will provide pupils with knowledge that will enable them to navigate and contextualise a world in which many will try to tell them how to behave, what to do and what to think. It will help them to develop the skills to express their own views and make their own informed decisions.

From September 2020, the new PSHE curriculum was a statutory part of the Primary Curriculum. At Frieth we started implementing the new curriculum since September 2019 ready to fully embed the new policies and schemes from September 2020. We have based our curriculum on the PSHE Association scheme and planning to ensure full compliance.

We are ever aware, in PSHE lessons as in our other practice, of our need to safeguard our children. Our sessions begin with the sharing of ground rules and a reminder to children that they can access help if they need it. See below for an example of these.
RELATIONSHIPS AND SEX EDUCATION

As part of our PSHE curriculum, we follow the PSHE Association guidance for Sex and Relationships education and have chosen to use the 1Decision and Christopher Winter Resources to support teaching and learning in this area.  Our Policies are attached here.
Whilst following the statutory guidance, the PSHE Association, 1Decision and the Christopher Winter resources for Sex Education and Relationships education, we are also very mindful of the Church of England Document 'Valuing All God’s Children - Guidance for Church of England schools on challenging homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying' a copy of which can be found in the link below.
